On March 31st, I celebrated my 25th birthday. When I would think of how I wanted my life to be at 25, it looked nothing like the life I have now and that’s ok! Too many times we look at others and say “I should have this/be doing this/ by this time because ‘So and So” is doing it. Take that seed of comparison and pluck it up from the root! Enjoy the life you are blessed to have. If you don’t like something, change it! Before the excitement came from my birthday dinner and vacation, I definitely went through a small panic. I dropped my phone in a pedicure tub and had to get a new phone 2 hours before my dinner started (oh, joy). When I was in the Apple store, I was explaining to a random woman my situation and she said the simplest words to me with a smile on her face: “It’s only a phone”.
To that random woman, thank you.
For my 25th Birthday, I planned an all-women’s dinner with a handful of my friends. The restaurant I chose is John Davenport’s in New Haven, CT. It is located Downtown on the top floor of the Omni Hotel with a beautiful view of the city. Pros: beautiful scenery, excellent customer service. Cons: Menu not extensive; guests were very limited on what they could order. Other thanthat, I would totally recommend this restaurant for a romantic anniversary dinner or girls’ night.
What I Wore
My dinner had a central theme of blush tones. I required all of my guests to wear a form of mauve, blush or light pink. I knew the colors would look great against each of our skin tones and it was executed perfectly! I ordered my dress from Asos.com. The material was thick with light stretch and did not look or feel cheap at all compared to the price. The dress had a peplum detailing on it that I fell in love with. Because of all the detailing, I opted with minimal jewelry, just earrings. I ordered rose gold minimalist heels (also from Asos) which flowed perfectly with the dress. The dress gave me the look I was going for: simple, sexy, elegant. I loved it! I want to wear this number again so I’m going to get it dry cleaned and then kept it in the closet for a “just in case” moment.
I hope my birthday plans inspire you to take time for yourself or plan a great night with friends.
